Biography:
Keith Rose began his directing career in the mid-1980's. He was based in Johannesburg - the "hub" of the South African film industry.

He started his film career working as a cameraman for the South African Broadcasting Commission before turning his skills to the commercials industry. He fast became one of the most sought after lighting cameraman and learnt and developed his status from working with the likes of such directors as the, world renowned Peter Smillie and Leslie Dektor.

Keith then turned his talents to directing commercials when he joined the most prolific film company, at the time - David Feldman Productions. Here, Keith went from strength to strength and fast became the most popular director in the country. Before the end of 1990, he had a collection of awards won both locally and internationally, including his first Gold Lion statue at the Cannes International Advertising Festival which he won for his Mercedes Benz 'Chapmans Peak" commercial.

In February 1990, when South Africa started proving itself as an emerging advertising and film commercial industry, Keith decided to part ways with David Feldman. His aim and interest was to venture further into the international advertising market. He teamed up with Barry Munchick to form Velocity Films. With Barry's vast international production experience in all advertising and film markets, this would prove to be a strong force in the world of filmed advertising.

Keith progressed a long way in the 1990's as a Director and continued to light and film all his own work. He was accredited at one point by Campaign magazine to be amongst the top five Directors on the international circuit after he continued to bring in more Cannes Gold for BMW in 1992 for BMW Mouse as well as many Silver statues. In 1998, largely due to Keith's continued successes, including another Cannes Gold for Sam and two Silver statues one for Bubbles, Velocity Films was rated 4th Best Production Company at the Cannes Film Festival. Keith Rose has just recently been inducted into the Clio awards TV Hall of Fame 2004 for BMW "Mouse" - a huge honour of which a select few have only been recognised over the years.

To this day, he continues to selectively work on some of the biggest international campaigns and has to his credit, filmed for almost every territory (including: the USA, U.K, Japan, Canada and all of Europe). He has also worked amongst some of the greatest advertising agencies, worldwide. If it had to be asked today; who is the best and most highly respected Director in South Africa, the answer would be unanimous - Keith Rose.
